How to Practice Conscious Breathing

One popular technique is the Alternate Nostril Breath, also known as Nadi Shodhana in yoga. This practice helps balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain, promoting mental clarity and harmony.

Alternate Nostril Breath Technique:

  1. Sit comfortably with your spine straight.
  2. Place your left hand on your left knee, palm facing upward.
  3. Bring your right hand to your face and place your thumb on your right nostril and your ring finger on your left nostril.
  4. Close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale through your left nostril for a count of four.
  5. Close both nostrils, holding your breath for a count of eight.
  6. Release your right nostril and exhale for a count of eight.
  7. Inhale through your right nostril for a count of four, then close both nostrils and hold for eight counts.
  8. Release your left nostril and exhale for eight counts.
  9. This completes one round. Repeat for 5-10 rounds.
